The great thing about the natural rattan material is that it can easily be maintained meaning that it can last many years, even decades. We recommend to simply clean with a dry cloth to get rid of any dust. It is important that if the frame of your furniture does get wet, please dry thoroughly to avoid any mould appearing.
Another great thing about rattan furniture is that is a natural product so is used to being in the sun, hence why it is a great option for a conservatory, orangery or summerhouse. Like any furniture or fabric though, there will be some discolouration over time in sun hot spots so we do recommend to occasionally move your furniture around and rotate cushions.
The majority of our conservatory cushions are made with removable cushion covers so is easy to clean. There will be a care label inside but all of our fabrics are either machine washable or dry clean only. We also have some specialist Aquaclean fabrics which are stain resistant and any marks can be cleaned with water.
We have a wonderful relationship with our supplier having worked with them for many years. Our rattan is sourced from Indonesia, and is all hand-made whilst we work closely with them to ensure a fair trade policy.
The rattan plant is like bamboo but more durable and can worked into beautiful shapes. After it’s harvested, it’s then cut to 13 foot and left in the sun to dry out. Then the inner fibres are removed and used to make our furniture.
